Device not found...ever

This is an ongoing problem I've had with every computer I've set up my Forerunner 310xt on... I lost the ANT+ stick like 2 computers ago, so I have to rely on the cable. I actually thought that'd be easier... However, I download the latest Garmin express thing, and it insists my device is not connected. Yet, I'm staring at a physically connected USB cable, and my Forerunner recognizes that its connected b/c it begins charging. So, my USB outlets are clearly working (that and all other USB devices get recognized). What's the deal w/ Garmin Connect and other Garmin apps continually struggling to recognize devices? As someone who works on multiple computers regularly, I would really appreciate less of a hassle connecting. As I shop for my next device upgrade, I'm seriously considering tossing Garmin aside, sadly.

ANY help here?
  • AFAIK the cable is only for charging on the 310xt. Without the ant stick you are SOL for data transfer. But I admit I don't have one nor have I ever used one, I might be wrong.

The sub-forum for the 310xt will be a better place to post as you will get the attention of the majority of the 310xt users that are active in this forum.

No, you are not wrong. The 310XT cannot transfer data over the USB cable. You *must* use an ANT+ stick.
