Garmin Express - How do I specify which activities to upload?

Dear Garmin,

With the old Garmin Connect I could select upload, I would then select "Upload Selected Activities" and I could decide which activities to upload to my online account.

The reason for doing this is that the Garmin watch is shared by 2 people and we use 2 different Garmin connect accounts online to store our activities.

With the new Garmin Express it just wants to sync and upload all activities to one account.

Yes I realise that for alot of people that have 1 watch and 1 account this is fine, but there must be a large number of users like myself that share a watch?

Yes I can see that Garmin would prefer us to purchase a watch each, but we don't need a watch each.

Please can you provide a way to work with multiple accounts and to allow us to select which activities to upload like we used to be able to do in the old Garmin Connect.

I have this question too, did you get an answer or find a solution?

  • I can't recall when Connect would allow selective syncing.

The only way I can see you getting what you want is to connect your watch to a PC via USB and manually import the activities from web Connect's activities page and the Garmin/activity folder on the watch. Just make sure Bluetooth is turned off as activities often sync automatically.

I guess steps, sleep, intensity, etc. aren't important to you.

  • What  suggests is a good solution. Another one is creating a common GC account for the device, and then separate accounts for each of the users. You'd associate the device only with the common account, syncing all activities only to it. You can then export individual Activities in the "Original" format and import them to the respective personal account (or even downloading the FIT files directly from the watch and importing them).

  • The benefit of trux's suggestion is that it's likely more user friendly and you would not have to worry about an automatic sync inadvertently going to the wrong account.

His common account suggestion would be the staging area.
