Garmin Express Not Recognizing Device on MAC new OS Yosemite

I'm on an Apple/Mac using the new OS Yosemite and the desktop app isn't able to locate my Forerunner 305. It was plugged into the back of my computer with a usb cable. I reinstalled the app and still same issue. I ended up using the older non-supported Garmin Training Center app and it found my device so I could transfer the data from my 305 to connect.garmin.com

Anyone else having any issues with this?
  • OS Yosemite is beta software. It is not released to the public. How on earth can you expect Garmin to respond or work with the OS now. I suggest you revert back to Mavericks. If you have a problem then, then you can take it up with Garmin.

OS Yosemite has been released to the public for beta testing. And as a beta tester, we find apps/bugs that aren't functioning so that we can share that info w/Apple as well as other 3rd party app companies in order for it to work at it peak when released to the public in a non-beta version. Since the new OS will be release in the fall, many app companies which have long had the software developer version are hopefully making sure that their app works with the new OS. And hopefully Garmin is one of them. But I guess we'll find out in the fall. Thanks taking time to comment as reverting to Maverick is certainly an option.
  • Still on OS Mavericks and having the same problem with the Modern site as are many others......multiple post.

Then you need to be communicating with Garmin Support. This is a peer to peer forum with only occasional visits - if we are fortunate to be blessed with there presence - from Garmin employees.

    PS
I have Yosemite running in a virtual machine, but have yet to try it with Garmin Express.

@LARRYSDEAN - no problems here with 2 separate 910 XTs on 2 separate iMacs with Mavericks and Garmin Express uploading to 2 separate Garmin Connect accounts with GC modern on Safari. Do remember, that what you see on this forum are people with problems and likely not representative of the many thousands who don't. That's not to deny the problems you and others are having, but to assure you that all is not necessarily Garmin's fault. The problem may well lie within your system

    Stephen,

Were you ever able to resolve this issue? I'm hitting the same problem in Yosemite Beta 3.

    Thanks,

    j.
  • All good with 910XTs on Yosemite beta 3 in a virtual environment through Parallels 10 with GE uploading activity data and downloading courses.

If you are having problems with the 305 then it is most likely to be the USB drivers. Have you used the feedback form to pass the information to Apple?

I did use the Feedback assistant for my issue.

It seems to be working for me now. I reloaded garmin express and then launched it without my watch in range. (I have a 405 and am using the Ant stick) Not having the watch in range the first time I opened Garmin Express seemed to be the key.
  • Well yes that would help :)

    Still having same issue.

Yes I'm still having intermittent issues and end up quitting the app, unplugging and replugging in my garmin to it's dock, and after about 6 or so tries it will work. Also, about every 2 weeks or so, I'll get prompted to install Garmin Express again which I've done about 8 times now over the last couple of months. It's not an update, but a full install. Not sure why.
  • Are you sure it's not an update? it looks like a full install and feels like a full install but is likely an update. Make a not of your version now, then check next time you have to 'install'
