courses to garmin 800

I have a garmin 800 coming in the mail, and for now i'm not gonna buy the map sd card from garmin to save some money. I will be adding the premade openstreetmap for my longitude. I want to be able to create courses on garmin connect and send them to my garmin 800. Will this work without having the garmin map pack?
