Connect->Strava don't work

Made the connection in Strava Upload section yesterday (everything happened preciselly as explained by DCRainmaker) and so far no sync, nothing, the new Strava account Ive made just for that is empty. Had a run 2 hours ago, uploaded correctly to Connect, nothing in Strava. Is this :mad: happening to anybody else?
  • I made the connection yesterday as well, but didn't have any new Connect activities until this evening (about 2 hours ago). Nothing has shown up in my Strava account yet either...
  • This is working but it seems to take a long time. But after it finally showed up, none of the meta-data (i.e. Activity Title, Description) appeared in Strava. According to Strava's support page (https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/51702104-Strava-partners-with-Garmin-for-seamless-upload-via-Garmin-Express) this is an issue with them accessing that information from Garmin Connect. It would be REALLY useful to have the meta-data, otherwise this feature is essentially useless to me.
  • Is this the new Garmin/Strava integration?

    Firstly all it does is take data from Garmin Express and then sends this data to Garmin Connect and Strava.

    It does not pull the data from Garmin Connect and then send it to Strava, hence why name etc ins't pulled across.

    I linked my Express and Strava yesterday and this sync'd all perfectly fine today.
  • JYAEGAN2, I'm fairly certain you are incorrect here. When you go to the Strava page and choose to Connect with Garmin, you are giving Strava permission to access your data on Garmin Connect. This step wouldn't be necessary if Garmin Express was just going to upload the data to a Strava account (there would likely be a setting in Garmin Express for Strava). If it were done the way that you are suggesting then no activities uploaded via methods other than Garmin Express (ANT Agent, Garmin Communicator, manual uploads, manual activities, Garmin Connect Mobile, ...) would transfer to Strava. That would be a dumb thing to do given the number of people that use alternative upload methods.

    Additionally, Strava documents how to get activities from Garmin Connect into Strava here, and they document a few known issues here. Nothing on either of those pages indicates that you must use Garmin Express to upload activities for them to appear on Strava.

    MICHAELPPEARCE, I think the third item on the known issues page will explain why the activity title and other metadata isn't transferred. If you really want the metadata, I'd use Tapiriik until this functionality is improved.
  • Travis,

    I retract my first statement. How I was quoting a third party site and not Garmin/Strava's blogs.

  • I've tried to watch this the past few days and it seems that the sync occurs 2-4 hours after loading the data to Connect. While that isn't horrible, it isn't the 3-5 minutes that was published in the announcement from both Garmin and Strava. The 3-5 minutes published in the announcement would be great/ideal.

    Love this feature and would love to see the meta-data be included in the sync. I know that some people don't bother editing that data, I do and would love to not have to edit it in multiple places.

    Great job Garmin. Another quality enhancement to Connect.

    I seem to be having difficulty too.

    I have just uploaded from my Edge 1000 via Wifi direct from the Garmin to Connect seamlessly, however, nothing seems to be happening in respect to uploading to Strava, which is a bit of a shame really as I'm pretty sure that I made a rather nice PR that I wanted my Strava friends to see! ;)
  • Worked for me tonight. Synced Edge 510 to GC mobile on an iphone via bluetooth. Appeared on Strava in less than 3 minutes.

    Retained the 510 elevation gain too. Until today I used copymysports to autosync and it applied the elevation uncorrection.
