Support for Chrome interface

I am really hoping there is some app or what not in the works that would allow garmins uploading to work with a chromebook.

  • If you have a device that can make a data connection through the usb, then it should be no issue importing your activities into Garmin Connect. Sure it's a hassle, but better than nothing. If your device needs an ant stick, then I've no solution for you unless you can write code. There is a developer forum and the developer tool kits are available.

If you really want Garmin to know your concern, you should probably email Garmin Support or Submit an Idea to Garmin, both links below in my signature line. No guaranty they see every post here in this forum.
  • I have an FR15 and chromebook.

I just found out that I can connect the FR15 to the chromebook with the USB cable.
Using chromebook "files" app I can see a *.fit file.
Using the Chrome web browser I log onto http://connect.garmin.com/modern/
On the left side panel and under 'activities' the screen pops up and there is an "import" data
Click, surf to the garmin device, and select the .fit file.
    It uploads

Get back to us when you get Garmin Express to run on your Chromebook. :o Without out that, the result will be the same as has been posted for you a few times before. YOU CAN NOT Sync a FR15 with a Chromebook!!!!!

Jim, I've come to realize "Garmin Express" is the slick program that allows us FR15 users to easily and quickly sync with "Garmin Connect".

Manually importing is possible. I believe this import means I will not have some functionality that others will have using their iComputer or MSComputer.
Also, I don't think I'll be able to update firmware without the i or MS.

How can an FR15 get firmware updates without an Apple or MS machine?
  • GE is more than an easy way to import. As you see, it handles FW update, but also settings for the FR to be synced with the device settings (like weight, for example) in GC. Also, while activities generate .fit files, "steps" do not, and there is no way to import those without GE. (that's the "activity tracking" part of the FR15).

The base FW might get updated even couple months, but the GPS stuff seems to be getting updated every 2-3 weeks, and I've not seen a way to manually update either type of file on the FR15 - only with GE.
