Can I keep using Classic Garmin?

When I try to use Modern Garmin, it does not recognize my device, the same watch I've been using since signing up to GarminConnect in the first place. Please tell me I don't need to download Garmin Express again and start over? I really prefer Garmin Classic for look and ease of use. It was so easy to upload my latest runs. I can't even find how you upload on the modern, because it won't recognize my watch! I'm trying not to be aggravated…but it's time I could be running, not sitting on the computer.
