New Garmin connect almost unusable

I am trying to use new interface it is not user friendly Help is clunky and route planning not at all intuitive. deeply unimpressed Have used several alternative sites and just wasted half an hour an given up I am not a complete unused to using my device.

Come on Garmin make this a useable tool

The route editor is almost exactly the same as the route editor of the classic Garmin Connect. I don't see how the course editor is any less intuitive than that of the other services. It lacks some nice features of the other services, but in terms of being intuitive, clicking to add points to a path is pretty much how all of the course creators work.

Agree with that, Only thee tile/screen is t small. For the rest no complaints about the modern look
  • I cannot enter any points on tile or create course. Other mapping tools work in browser, the controls and menu are not visible there is no option to set start or finish point
I have been using my Edge 800 for 2 years now with no problems

Agree with all that. Looks nice but its horrible. Garmin connect has been out for a while now and looks and feels half done! Pathetic
  • I like the new look and its a good step forward but they released it way too soon. Riddled with bugs. They should have tested it properly.

I'd hate to think of the number of people who have migrated to Strava or other sites and never likely to go back to GC.

You might be on the "explore" courses, or you are in the part where you 'view' your already saved courses. You can get to the actual course "creation" tool several ways. From the main page showing all your tiles, you can find the "courses" tile and click on the '+' sign and it takes you right into the editing tool. Just click on the map where you want to begin.

If you are already in some other feature, then click the icon with the three horizontal bars near the top left of the page and then select courses from the 'fly-out' menu. You should now be viewing any saved courses you have, so select the green ball with the '+' sign in it near the top right next to the words "create course" and you will again be in the editor. If you don't have any courses already saved, it may take you directly into the editor, but I don't know that for sure.

    comms problems

Having loaded the new connect & Garmin Express I have been unable to upload, using IE11 it says there was a problem connecting to Garmin servers but I can't see any notices form Garmin?

    Is there a problem?
  • @LANGSETT -- As you said the message was from Internet Explorer, are you able to get to any of the Garmin Connect website? Do you have any other browsers installed on you computer. I gave up on I.E several years ago and use either FireFox or Chrome on my Windows PC. It may well just be a security setting in I.E. that needs adjusting, but I don't have the experience with I.E. to tell you anything.

The connection issue you have might be browser specific or it might be with something else on your PC such as add-blockers, virus protection, firewall settings or quite a few other things. Calling Garmin Support would probably be the quickest to resolve it.
