Can the Garmin Edge 810 "ghost race" ?

I don't know if "ghost race" is the correct term, but I got it from playing Moto Racer when I was a kid, where you can drive a course, and the race against an ghost of yourself in an attempt to improve your best time.

I was wondering if I can do something like this with the Garmin Edge 810?

I am going to drive the same stretch to and from work, and I would like to have a map where I can see two dots on the map, one which is me where I am now, and another which is my best time, so I can drive against myself on the map.

If this can not be done on the edge, maybe someone can recommend an app that can do it?

Thanks.

  • Yes, it can. The feature you are looking for is called Virtual Racer. This name isn't used in the manual, but the feature is briefly mentioned on page 4 under Courses.

Watchout at traffic light! Going thru stop signs and red lights is an easy way to beat your virtual racer, but not a good Idea.

    Thank you very much.

Thanks, but I already go thru most red lights and stop signs anyway. But I slow down and check for traffic, regardless if it's red or green. So my time don't depend on the color much, more on actual traffic.
