Does New Garmin connect works with Dakota 20?

I loved the old Garmin connect Uploading was straight forward and you could even load activities manually from Files (Which is a BIG PLUS).

I was expecting big improvements in the New web Site, in terms of statistics, and more interactivity between users.

For my surprise, the New Site does not detect my Dakota20. .
For the FAQ it says that it only supports devices from the Sports product Line.

I really hope this is a mistake or a joke, because I don't wat to believe that a company Like Garmin, simply decided to block all otherGarmin customers from using Garmin connect unless they buy a Sports product? Why?
Can't I do Sports with the Outdoor Product Line?!?!?!

Be aware that for a lot of mountain bikers the Dakota or Oregon, are by far better more suitable products than any Sports product.

Please tell me this was a mistake, and the you will solve it ASAP.

Note: I have garmin express installed and running, and detecting my Dakota20. But the webSite simply does not recognize any device.
  • if you can browse to the activity file on your device with your pc or mac's file browser, then you can probably use the "import" feature of the new GC. If GC still balks at importing, then you may have to find some utility to change the format of your activity file or tracklog to something that the new GC will use.

I still don't use the new GC but I've read posts from others stating that there is an import function for manually uploading activity files. If you can upload to another site, such as Strava, you can always export it back to your computer and import that file to GC. A lot of work, I know.... but that's the price of progress.

GC at some point may be able to handle your device, likely they just haven't gotten around to coding for it yet. Surprising as it is, there are so many differences in every device that most need special handling in programming code to handle them. No small feat either.....
  • I'm in the same boat: Express recognizes my Dakota 20, the new Connect site does not. Voiceresponse, I don't see an import feature anywhere in the new GC, and from what I've read, I'm under the impression that you can't just upload gpx files, you have to use Express. I've sent an email to support, I'll update here with whatever I learn.
  • Import is under Activities, so open the Activities tab and you'll see Import on the right hand side. You can upload gpx files as you'll see when you click on Import.
  • Thanks, sussamb, I see it now. Still getting used to the new site, not sure if I like it or not. You would think if you can enter a manual activity from the (widget? panel? whatever it's called...) you could also upload a file, instead of having to go through all the extra clicks... sigh...

The truth is the usability of the import (and website) is poor:
    - this import is not clearly visible
    - on import you do not see all desired tracks (like all from today). Sometime a stopwatch is automatically archive, the site won't see it.
    - the screen used be the site is very small. Come'on, we have big screen. even a 13' is "large" for this site.
