Garmin Connect Activity Privacy

I recently bought two Garmin Vivofit with HRM and created a Garmin Connect account. I added Connections and set the privacy on all of my activities to everyone however when I open the dashboard and look in the Connections Weekly leaderboard, my steps do not show and instead a lock icon is displayed. when I hover on the icon it says that my activities privacy is set to private.

Can anyone please help on this?

Thanks alot.

David
  • It can take up to a day for this to change. Your steps should start showing tomorrow.
  • I'm not necessarily saying that this is the issue, but it is an important piece of information... There are two settings related to the privacy of your activities. There is the per-activity privacy setting, and then there is the setting in your profile that controls the default privacy setting for all new activities. If you want all of your activities (past and future) to be public, you need to change the per-activity privacy setting for all existing activities, and you need to change the profile setting so new activities are public.

"If you want all of your activities (past and future) to be public, you need to change the per-activity privacy setting for all existing activities"

Is this done on an activity-by-activity basis? One activity at a time? Is there a way to change the privacy settings from "only me" to "everyone" or to "my connections" globally? I have 700+ "only me" activities that I want to change to "my connections." Possible to do without manually changing each one?

    Thanks.
  • Once the activity is uploaded to Garmin Connect, the only way to change the privacy setting for that activity via Garmin Connect is to do it manually. If you go to the Activities page, you can click Quick Edit and then change the setting for each activity on the page (there are 20 per page).

If you are willing to install a python-3.x interpreter, I wrote a script that can update the privacy setting of all of your activities. You can find it here.
