What have you done to Garmin Classic!!!! The new modern format is impossible to use . Where is upload button? In fact the new format tells me my device isn't even connected! I have a Garmin Edge 200. Can I continue to use Garmin Classic or do you plan to remove this format?
  • It's not 'impossible to use', just different. For now Classic is still available but you'll need to switch in due course.
  • Where is upload button?

On the activities page. It is not a link labeled Import.

Import doesn't import from my 305...it wants a file upload. How can I upload from my device?

Blackprince posted a very concise question. The answer by the "master" is vague . We just want correct help.

So where is the upload button and WHY isn't it on the front page. I don't even see an activities page.
I do have some stupid little pictures down the left hand side but as they have no labels until I click them I haven't a clue what to use.
Why does the new version not automatically down load like the old one. After initial set up I have never even hit upload. It does it for me.
New version is way to complex.
Please show me how to make it simple.
Even the "tour" is more complex than needed . I gave up on that !

Try deactivating any adblocker/scriptblocker you have running.
  • But why...?
Finally got my 310XT to work under Linux, using various hacks and workarounds, and now this pile of ....!
Are you doing it just to annoy people, or what?
Just like when Bing maps suddenly was the only option... Bing sucked big time in my area, and no map data was available.
I am buying another brand next time.
  • So where is the upload button and WHY isn't it on the front page.

Again, it is on the activities page. I'm guessing it isn't on the front page (or every page for that matter) because it isn't something that you should need to access all that often. It is probably on the activities page because it has to do with activities. It wouldn't make sense for it to be on the Calendar page, or the Settings page, right? So they put it in the place where it is logical and removed it from the places where it isn't related.

I don't even see an activities page. I do have some stupid little pictures down the left hand side but as they have no labels until I click them I haven't a clue what to use.

From the icon bar on the left, click the three horizontal bar icon. Click the word Activities. Now you're on the Activities page. The Import link is on near the top-right corner. As mentioned above, it isn't exactly like the old upload button. It doesn't use the Garmin Connect plugin, so you'll need to locate the file you want to upload and manually upload it.

Why does the new version not automatically down load like the old one. After initial set up I have never even hit upload. It does it for me.

If you install and properly configure Garmin Express, this is _exactly_ what it does. The new system is supposed to work just like the old software, but in some ways it is better. That said, if you've never had the need to hit upload in the past, then why are you trying to do it now? Why not try to figure out why you can't get automatic uploads like you used to?

Import doesn't import from my 305...it wants a file upload. How can I upload from my device?
Yup. If you want to Import a file, you have to know where that file is. Your 305 should appear like an external USB storage device on your computer. You should be able to browse to the files on the devices internal storage and select the file that you wish to upload. Or, as mentioned above, you could spend some time getting Garmin Express configured so you don't have to do the manual Import thing.

The answer by the "master" is vague. We just want correct help.

I've posted the concise answer about 50 times in the last two weeks. I'm getting tired of explaining exactly what to click. It isn't that difficult to click the things on screen to look around. When you go to the dashboard, there are 4 icons on the left and a few tabs on the right. From the dashboard, a grand total of 7 clicks should be sufficient to find something that might be the Activities page. Additionally, nobody seems to read the existing posts, they just go and post anew, never bothering to look to see if the problem has been encountered before.

As SUSSAMB mentioned above, the modern Garmin Connect isn't impossible to use, it is just different. If the modern Garmin Connect had come first, you would be freaking out because they couldn't find the settings page. The only people who seem to be seriously annoyed by the transition are those that are just resistant to change. That is sad because for things to improve, change is required.

This is a rude and defensive response. We (customers) are tired of dramatic changes to format which are harder to use rather than being easier or more transparent or intuitive. You have a lot to learn about customer care. Garmin will get a lot of reputational damage if it continues with this attitude.
  • The person that answered you is a customer too, he is not a Garmin employee AFAIK. This is a peer-to-peer or user-to-user forum for all practical purposes. Just like I am a customer of Garmin's. It is very seldom that you will see a Garmin employee here.

If you need help from Garmin, then you need to go to their Support Website.
