hi

I just started to use segments (last 3 weeks), it seemed like a good tool. Unfortunately it takes at a minimum 3 days and sometimes up to a week to get segment information on garmin connect.

Is there a fix?

second problem - not all segments show up on each activity. I do a favourite route, and have tried to beat my time (3 days in a row) unfortunately the segments don't show up on all of the activities. There are only 3 segments in this favourite route activity, and I did not create them, they were public segments.

as a suggestion, if the segment tool is to be effective, we the public need to be able to see our results on the same day at the very least. Whether that is through garmin connect or via the garmin device - I am using a 510.

The segment info will take some impressive computing power and could bring down services if not managed or architected correctly. I would imagine garmin are cloud computing the segment data in batches / quiet times using a specific resource with a queue... They could throw huge resource at it / charge a premium for real time segmenting tho? Otherwise it would not be environmentally friendy / cost effective to have huge it resources at the whim of our training!

I am now waiting to see if I am the fastest in a certain section where i flew down today... Hope it does not take 3 weeks for my bragging rights ;)
  • I've used segments for months, but the last week or two they don't seem to be "noted" as quickly. Up until then, I'd see them within a minutes or so after syncing.

I expect this is a short term issue and will probably be resolved soon. Maybe it's due to a bunch of new users getting vivofit 2's, vivoactives, and Fenix 3's, as they are now being shipped out.

Garmin Connect used to (last fall at least) upload my segments immediately and accurately. Now, since the beginning of February, my Garmin Forerunner 220 hasn't matched a single segment. I've run dozens of segments by this point and not a single one appears. It's frustrating and it makes me wonder if Garmin Connect is a waste of my time.
