I am also having trouble editing my activities. I can edit the title, but "full edit" mode won't work. It won't work neither with the pencil button, nor with the wheel button and then edit in the context menu. This is true both for classic and modern view. I am using Mac OS 10.10.1 and Safari 8.0.2. Upon clicking the edit button, the map view is changed to grey and the mouse courser changes to a an arrow with a spinning wheel (which on Windows would be an hourglass, I guess). Does anyone know how to fix this or in case it is a bug, where I can open a service request or something alike at Garmin?
And I'm having exactly the same problem using a Mac with both Safari and Firefox, and have done for several weeks.
My 310XT must be coming to the end of its life before long: after the farce of having to use a Polar heart rate strap to even use the Garmin watch (their strap proved useless and not fit for purpose after many purchases before DC Rainmaker put me on to the Polar strap) plus the Garmin Connect facility being full of bugs such as this means I'll be returning to Polar.
