Mac Won't recognize Garmin device

No driver appears on the desktop, and I am unable to connect. I have followed all the recommendations that I could see on FAQs etc. My mac is up to date, and meets the requirements. Error message on Garmin Forerunner says"Update failed, Try again tom Garmin Connect." That's kinda hard since I can't connect. I'm waiting till Monday to call Garmin. It did connect previously and now it won't. Any suggestions?
