GPX files - missing distance data

I am importing GPX files from a French Cycle tour site into mapmyride and then downloading them to my Edge 705. When I view the files on the device (eg select saved ride and navigate) the route calculates and I can see the turn by turn instructions - but there is no distance data shown.
On previous routes that I have mapped in mapmyride distances are shown in the turn by turn screen.
My concern is that these new routes will not be usable,
Anybody able to shed any light on this ?

What gets put into a .gpx file depends on the tools and options used by the creator of the file and every tool and options you used to get it to your device.
