how to get data about my sprints?

I'm currently training by sprinting a km or so followed up by quite an extensive walking session. The average speeds I see on garmin connect after the excercise are completely useless since they are a mixture of both very different speeds.

How can I see data about my sprints only; how can I hide all data that's collected by walking, since I don't care about that one?

Using garmin 310xt, not that it really mattered since the data is collected, but garmin connect doesn't display it properly.
  • If you need that level of info, I'd try Strava, ridewithgps or one of the many other fitness sites for running and biking. I routinely use three sometimes four different sites to view my data, as all of them have their own special features they do very well. I even find myself using the old Garmin Training Center software that is still available, but no longer supported, to view your activities even though it's an old clunkier looking interface, there are things GTC will show you that GC will not.
  • I don't remember Strava being that ridiculously terrible back when I tried it a year ago or so. If you want to do anything, you need a premium account. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll try basecamp and if that's not satisfying, maybe training center. Let's see.
edit: Turned off Auto-Lap, should fix the issue.

  • You have two choices, and which you choose depends on exactly what you want. Option 1... at the start and end of every sprint interval, press the Lap button. This will cause Garmin Connect to display a split for each sprint and recovery. You can look at the average numbers for each sprint in the splits tab of the activity page, but the average for the entire workout will still count your recoveries. Option 2... at the end of every sprint interval, press the Stop button, and then press the Lap button. At the start of a sprint interval, press the Start button. You will see splits for only the sprint portions of your activity, the recoveries will not be recorded, and the averages will only include the sprints.
  • I don't think basecamp is geared for analyzing activities. It is for handling maps, creating courses and seeing your track. I suppose you might get some basic info, but I've never used it with my edge500. Mainly just my Nuvi.
