My Nuvi 1490 has no power up at all.
The screen came on..... GARMIN.... flashed up.....loading bar started then it cut out, not before making a small whirling sound.
Anyway i took it apart and the mini usb is loose and a pin has snapped , also the shielding where it connects to board was loose.
Ive removed the female usb to replace with new, so in the meantime ive hard wired positive and ground to a plug in voltage source ive made up.
BUT???
Still no power, obviously im getting voltage to pins on board ive soldered on but testing the board before the battery connection im only getting 1v??
Q- if battery is discharged / knackered , should the unit still boot up with it being hard wired.
Any help appreciated
