I have a Garmin eTrex 30 and am about to do a 600 mile bike ride along the Colorado Trail. This will involve 7 days of biking where I will need to change the batteries in the unit probably each day, and turn it off at night. I really want the whole trip to be in a single garmin track file but have not had the best luck with keeping my tracks active when I swapped batteries in the unit.
What procedures should I follow in order to make sure that I finish this 7 day trip with a single, continuous GPS track out of my eTrex 30 despite multiple battery changes, and periods of time where I turn the unit off while sleeping?
