Lap distance

Hi,

I would like to know if there is any way to configure the lap distance to use in Garmin Connect, so that the "splits" information is shown for each km, for example.

The thing is that, right now, if the activity is uploaded directly from a device, the laps are configured automatically to be 1 mile, even though my settings are set to use the metric system.

The other thing is that when the activity is imported from a file, most of the times, Garmin Connect only recognizes one lap for the total distance of the activity.

Thank you!
  • In all of my experience with Garmin Connect, I've never seen it insert splits into an activity. It may display mile/km markers on one of the maps, but it doesn't insert splits.

The lap/split information you see is generated in one of two ways; either manually or automatic. To manually enter a lap, you press the Lap button on your Garmin device at the start/end of a lap. To automatically enter laps, you must enable the Auto Lap feature of the Garmin device that you are recording your activity with (if available). If you go for a 15 km run and don't have Auto Lap enabled, and you don't press the Lap key, you should expect your activity to have one lap that is the 15 km.

Additionally, if you are seeing measurements in miles and want to see kilometers, you have to tweak your units settings. Note that the settings on your Garmin device are separate from the settings you see on Garmin Connect, so if you want Metric units, you'll have to change/check the setting in two places at the very least.

Thank you travis, it was actually that "Auto Lap" option that was set and it was set to 1mi.

    Thank you again!
