Forerunner 110 uploading/syncing issues

I seem to always have issues uploading my data from the 110 to my macbook. It takes several minutes for my computer to recognize the connection. Today the screen went blank so I reset the watch....in the process I lost all my data.

Frustrating to say the least. Any help/suggestions?

This is a well known side-effect of doing a master reset. It should only be done as a last resort. I feel for you if you lost a lot of data, but it seems the problem could have been avoided or minimized. You might have been able to avoid the data loss entirely if you had been able to avoid the master reset. The amount of data lost could have been minimized by frequently uploading your activity to Garmin Connect.

It isn't clear what you mean when you say that it takes several minutes for your MacBook to recognize the connection. Is it just taking the MacBook a really long time to see that you've connected a USB device? Is it taking a long time for the appropriate application to start? Has this problem resolved itself since you've done the master reset?

What software are you using to connect to your FR110? Garmin Express? If not Garmin Express, is there some reason you aren't using Garmin Express?

I only lost one run....no big deal. When I connect the FR110 to my computer via the USB port I have to plug it in and unplug it several times before my computer recognizes the connection. Oddly, the FR110 beeps when it is connected but it's still hit or miss. I'm connecting to through the Garmin Connect site. I'm not running Garmin Express as I'm still on OS 10.6.

I am having the same issue with my forerunner 110 when plugging into my macbook and I am on OS X 10.9. Doesn't always detect it; I have to try multiple times; and now the synching is taking forever.
It is still in the sync process after over 45 min (and it used to be much faster before - my last sync was May 5th), but the workouts are still in the watch. I don't think I have more than 2 workouts I care about in there, but yesterday I did a hike and I really wanted to get the elevation data. Not sure I have any other choice than a reset at this point since the processing seems to not be ending. Or can Garmin support access my log, since I have sharing data enabled? I am using Garmin Express and already installed all updates. Two choices: my 110 has a defect or 110 is not truly compatible with MacBook.
