Repeats in Workouts

Just need some help to make sure I've set this up right.

I've set up some intervals with
5 min warm up;
Interval repeated 4x
Recover repeated 4x
Cool down

This will repeat the interval and then recovery consecutively 4 times right?

Thanks.
  • Given the description you are providing, it seems that you're going to get this workout...

    • warm up
    • hard interval
    • hard interval
    • hard interval
    • hard interval
    • recover
    • recover
    • recover
    • recover
    • cool down

    You probably want...

    • warm up
    • hard interval
    • recover
    • hard interval
    • recover
    • hard interval
    • recover
    • hard interval
    • recover
    • cool down

If you did it right, you should have a single Repeat 4 Times box with a grey outline around your Interval and Recovery steps. It would look something like this.

One note; I have found that it is often tricky to drag/drop interval steps into the repeat blocks. You just have to keep trying until you get it to work.

It's not working for me. Anytime I try to drag the second item into the repeat, the other one "pops" out... It's frustrating !!!
  • It will work, you just have to keep trying. There are a few tricks that do help make the experience a lot less frustrating.

One of the tricks is to create the appropriate number of steps and drop them into the repeat at any position. After you have the correct number of steps, go back and edit each of them.

Another trick is to avoid dragging steps to the last position in the repeat. Doing this will typically cause the step to drop out of the repeat. Instead, move the bottom step up. This makes creating an repeat a bit like a game of Towers of Hanoi, but it does work and you get used to it.

When creating workouts on garmin connect on my mobile, I cannot figure out how to drag a step into the repeat on a tablet or mobile. Am I missing something. I can do it on the computer easily on the computer using the mouse even though it is a bit fiddly

Dear god but the UI for this is so poor.
Normally I wouldn't believe that a company that ships so much software can get it so wrong, but it's Garmin so I do.
Trying to make a workout with repeated steps using the web based editor is an excercise in frustration.
I'd ask that they sort it out but seems like it's been broken for at least 6 months.
