Modern Garmin Connect does not recognise my device on Garmin Express

I have had no problems at all with Classic Garmin Connect, but when accessing Modern Garmin Connect, the Devices widget says I have no device on Garmin Connect.
It invites me to add my device using Garmin Express - my Forerunner 10 is already registered and on Garmin Express, and when clicking the link provided, this is confirmed.
Anyone know how I can get Modern Garmin Connect to recognise my device?
  • Have you tried deleting the device from Garmin Express and adding it back? From Garmin Express...

    • Select the device from the dropdown menu on the left
    • Click the Device button on the right.
    • Right next to the picture of your device should be a Delete Device from Express link. Click it.
    • When prompted, opt to Remove from Garmin Connect, then click Confirm.
    • I don't think this is necessary, but I'd do it anyway... Restart your computer.
    • Start Garmin Express.
    • Select Add New Device from the dropdown menu on the left.
    • Follow the steps to pair your Forerunner 10 with Garmin Express.

I have the same problem with an Edge 510
  • Then I suggest the same potential solution above.

I have the same trouble. I have never had a problem with my FR 70 in the Classic Garmin Connect, but the new one won't even recognize my device. Is there a way I can still keep using Classic Connect?

Same for a 510, it works perfectly with classic but modern won't see it, express is running but nothing I do seems to help "modern(?) " see my device. Maybe I just stick to strava, no problems there! Interesting that after downloading workouts in classic modern can see it....
    Give me classic too!
  • You have to face the facts..... the classic Garmin Connect will go away at some point in the future. The programming team that created it doesn't even work for Garmin anymore. Strava and all the other sites are viable options for you. I routinely use three sometimes four different sites to view my bike rides. They all display some aspect of the ride in a better manner than the others, and this include GC which also does some things very well.

So if you find some features of GC important to you, you will have to figure out how to make it work for you. The first step for many of you that don't want to go to the trouble of manually importing your rides is to install Garmin Express and get it configured correctly to use your devices.

If the other members of this forum are not able to help you with this, then you need to go to the Garmin Support website and call them or use their email support process to deal with a Garmin employee about your troubles.

It says switch temporarily, so that just says that the classic veiw is going.

By the way for people saying I have a problem with _____ to
just follow the steps provided in another post above

I can't get my Forerunner 10 to connect to the Express. The classic Garmin Connect would recognize it but not the Express. Help!!!
  • I'll repeat again ... and as posted in the sticky https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?83744-Having-an-issue-with-Garmin-Express

IF you are having a problem with Connect Modern/Express please post in one of the two Express forums, depending on whether you have a PC or Mac. The Garmin Express staff frequent those forums and will help, I've not seen any 'Connect' Garmin staff here.
