New Garmin Connect is Terrible

I understand the need to continue to improve and innovate but this new Garmin Connect website is one of the worse designed websites I've seen in a long time. I don't know how in the world this got approved and rolled out in such a large company as Garmin but either the developers, product managers, or person who accepted the contract from the outside firm should be ashamed of themselves.

I've tried to think of some recommendations on what would make it better but I'm stumped on even where to being. At least the old site was someone easy to use and visually understandable. This new site is completely useless, ugly, and hard to navigate around in.

Someone in the organization needs to look at the competing websites or at a minimum buy a couple of UI/UX design books off Amazon and start over.
  • There's a manual here http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/ for Connect if that's what you're after :)

Just to confirm that the new website (modern) is very unfriendly , ugly and not usefull. I still prefer the old one but still with lot of enhancement needed like uploading a training descritpion from the watch to the website.....
I'm happy that the training center still work on my pc with garmin express (with some litlle trick) but if they continue to this way i think i will move on another brand.

They had a lot of wonderfull tools like training center that is very usefull to define training (much easier than the website) and to follow everything off line. I still use it because some time i did not have access to website but need to check my stat. The first website is quiet synthetic and ergonomic. Just hope that a designer can help them and that garmin can go back to better software quality.

I'm just able to open the main page is there any reason?
  • I agree with the thread title. The old version of the Garmin Connect website was pretty bad, and just about tolerable but the new version is dire. It barely works on my desktop and doesn't seem to work at all on my mobile (Android 4.4). The latter is pretty frustrating considering the Android Connect app is basically useless. That is a different conversation all together though.

Sort it out, Garmin. Your devices are decent but your software is not befitting such a large, successful company. Your customers deserve better.
  • I agree, as well. The old site was quite basic. When phone apps came along, offering lots more options and functionality, I thought the new site would blow them away, given the history and financial backing of such a global company; giving us all the options to do things like compare, average, graphs, segments (that have finished being prepared), the list goes on... But all we got was a different user interface. minus an upload button, which if we need to do we have to install a new program And why does the uploader always sync all your date, taking ages, instead of the old days when it just uploaded the new activities, in seconds. Then when its uploaded, its just as slow and basic as before, just harder to find.

When my edge 705 dies, I need some convincing as to why I should buy a replacement, instead of using my Iphone, i already own !!!
  • ... minus an upload button ...

It isn't ... it's under Activities. Perhaps you could try reading this http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/

There you go you are spending so much time telling us how all these features are actually there, we have just not found them, it shows how the new software is not in touch with the users of today. Look at other industries; Kodak, Blackberry and HMV; everything to nothing in just a couple of years because they failed to listern to what their customers wanted, liked and needed.

Totally agree and what is with requiring and upgrade of my OS 10.6 to 10.8 or something. The old site was fine and this one is simply more garbage

Well, this is a user to user help forum.

Do we need to lock this thread, or is it useful to keep all the whinges and rants in one place?

Garmin isn't reading this, you know that?
