New Garmin Connect is Terrible

I understand the need to continue to improve and innovate but this new Garmin Connect website is one of the worse designed websites I've seen in a long time. I don't know how in the world this got approved and rolled out in such a large company as Garmin but either the developers, product managers, or person who accepted the contract from the outside firm should be ashamed of themselves.

I've tried to think of some recommendations on what would make it better but I'm stumped on even where to being. At least the old site was someone easy to use and visually understandable. This new site is completely useless, ugly, and hard to navigate around in.

Someone in the organization needs to look at the competing websites or at a minimum buy a couple of UI/UX design books off Amazon and start over.
  • Sounds like you may have 2 accounts. See what e mail addresses and sign in details are being used for Express, Connect Modern and Connect Classic. You may get a better response if you post your query in the Express forum where the Express team could check this for you.

I'm happy to know I'm not alone. I received a Vivofit for my birthday two days ago and I'm shocked and disappointed at how hard this software is. I've never owned a Garmin product, and I find it difficult to believe that this is the best you can provide to your customers. Their were no instructions in my package, your help function is sorely lacking, the program is far from user friendly, the training videos tell you how to set it up, but not how to use it....there is very little in this program that makes any sense! I'm ready to go buy a FitBit and consider my first Garmin experience a bad memory.

I agree, add another dissapointed user to the new connect. I've been using it (Forerunner 405) since 2009... Sorry to be so rude, but for me, the new site is just rubbish

I can't even complain about the new Garmin Connect as I CAN'T EVEN GET IT TO RECOGNIZE MY DEVICE! I have to switch back to classic to upload. I'm on a Mac and classic works fine. No amount of installing, reconnecting, rebooting, etc. can get the new connect to see my device. Does anyone at the company even read these posts?

Where the hell is the upload button? 15 tiles of useless stuff, but no upload button?

I hear you! Was about to rip my hair out trying to find it. Then just swapped to the old style to do it. I guess when that goes, I'll have to stop using Garmin Connect. :/
  • On the Activities tile, labelled Import on right hand side :)

There are help pages here http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/

    It's really not that difficult.

If you're having these sorts of issues best to post in the Express form, there is a Garmin team there able to help.

Can't do anything but agree on all fronts here. I use the Vivofit activity tracker + the HRM band. I am generally happy with the devices themselves, but as long as the website and app does not work properly, they are almost rendered useless to me as tracking and analysing progress is the main thing for me with these devices. I'm not able to sync activities when using the HRM. The Vivofit syncing is generally glitchy and slow, the much awaited MyFitnessPall syncing is waaaaay slow and hard to depend on for real time tracking, and don't get me started on the website and iOS app...It is amazing to me that they launch a website like this without it being well tested and top notch. I live with a web developer and I've seen how much of the process works of launching a new website. I know there will always be bugs and fixes needed, especially upon launch, but still, this is so far from up to par. I just hope for Garmin's sake they get their act together because I'm already switching back to my Polar HRM, and I'm considering going back to my Fitbit activity tracker. At least, those I know work... Sorry. This is just not good enough.
  • Ranting doesn't really help as I'm not clear from your post what the actual issue is. Perhaps you could explain where it's failing and with what error message if any? Note that if it's related to Express try posting in the Express forum. Note also that the following seem to resolve most issues:

Delete and reassociate your device with Express http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={8a5f1480-ddf1-11e2-7dd9-000000000000}&kbName=garmin

    Issues uploading data https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId=%7B600f3dd0-3e6a-11dd-d7af-000000000000%7D

    Help with Connect http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/help/how-to/

I like many others have had no issues whatsoever switching to Connect Modern.

I've been fight the gamin connect interface for a month ….I've resorted to taking clicking on random button like an ape in the hope finding any useful heart rate data other "average" .I couldn't be more disgusted with Garmin and lack in-depth user manuals. Why can't they just put some serious directions up instead of happy life videos about "getting started ... I can't throw Vivosh*&&t
in the trash bc it was birthday present.
