Since I switch to the new version, cannot see any download from my device. It is downloading but after that, it erase automatically from my garmin 405cx and I cannot see my stuff online....
I should switch to it. Can someone help me?

  • First, you should disable the setting that tells Garmin Express to delete files from your device. This will help to minimize the potential for future data loss. This is pretty easy to do.


    • Start Garmin Express.
    • Select your 405cx from the devices dropdown on the left.
    • Click the Device link on the right.
    • Uncheck the option Erase data on this device after successfully syncing.



    Second, you have most likely not lost any data. It is very likely that the problem is you have used Garmin Express to get the data off of your device, but you are trying to access the data using the Garmin Communicator plugin. This won't work because the Garmin Communicator plugin is looking for your data files in the wrong location.

    I don't have a 405cx to test, but I believe that Garmin Express is supposed to automatically upload all of your activities to Garmin Connect for you. If it has not done so, you will need to Import the activities that it failed to upload, and then you'll have to Fix the Garmin Express configuration so that the upload process works correctly.

    Assuming you have access to the modern Garmin Connect, to Import your activities to Garmin Express, go to the Activities page and click the Import link near the top right. If you are using the classic Garmin Connect, go to the Activities page and click Upload. Browse for the .fit files you need to upload. The location of the files on your computer is discussed in this KB page. Select each file and upload them one at a time.

    Once you've done that, you need to be sure that Garmin Express is configured to upload your activities.


    • Start Garmin Express.
    • Select your 405cx from the devices dropdown on the left.
    • Click the Device link on the right.
    • Click Change Account.
    • Enter your Garmin Connect account credentials and click Sign In.



    That should do it. If you are still having trouble, it would be best to start a thread for your problem in the Garmin Express forum. There are a few Garmin Support people floating around over there, and they may be able to answer your questions.

  • I reported a problem with GE when set to delete after uploading. You appear to be having the same problem. The solution is to turn off the setting to delete after uploading.

    Sadly, if my experience is anything to go by, you may have lost the data.

    Contact Garmin Support. Not that they deigned to reply to me after the auto-reply
