Not sure what's happening. I did a multi-sport workout yesterday. Connected via express, and the activity didn't show up in Connect on my dashboard or anywhere else. The activity is still visible on the device (although I can't actually see the full details of the activity when I click "View More"). So not sure how to get it or see the activity.
  • The date of the file changed after uploading again, but the result is still the same. On the watch I can't view laps or other details, but it displays 140 miles, and 12+ hours. After importing the file it's 76 miles and about 5.5 hours. Garmin Connect, Training Center, and Strava all show the same information. Unless there's a file with a strange name that I'm not seeing, I'm afraid the effort is not recorded.

So you basically got half of the workout, right? If you still get something from the file without any tickering then you are kind of lucky since normally (as I know it), the file does not have correct ending and nothing can read it directly.

Still, you have lost your data and that is bad, especially for such long workout which I believe you do not do every week.
It happened to me on my first Ironman race. Yep, it did upset me. ;-) I guess from your time and length that your workout is of similar nature. :-)

You can contact Garmin support, but you will not get your data, I am quite sure about it.
But if you can make them to investigate and even fix this, I will buy you a beer (or two). ;-)
If you do contact them, I can provide you with few more corrupted files so they have more examples to study.

FYI, I did contact Garmin two years ago about exactly this, but I was not able to make them to really dig into it and fix it.

This wasn't my first Ironman race, but it was my 3rd. You are right that I won't be doing this every weekend. What I really want to know is my HR on the run. I never looked at it during the race, but I'd like to know how close the Zone 1 I was during the last 4 miles.

If anyone else finds this, it can still be an issue!
