Modern vapor?

I tried clicking on the "Modern" link at the top of the old Garmin Connect to see what this looked like.

In my old FF, I see nothing except a blank page and some icons on the left (which do nothing). So I switched to Comodo Dragon (a Chrome clone). Same thing - nothing!

This is what I am seeing. NONE of the icons on the left do anything. They all resolve to the same URL in the address bar. Any ideas what I need to do to see this new interface?

  • Hi there

I had exactly the same problem in Chrome and managed to sort this last night. It turns out it was due to the "Disconnect" chrome plugin blocking content from other sites that are aggregated into the connect page (or something). If you've got Disconnect you'll need to whitelist the site. If not it could be something to do with adblock or a similar plugin for whichever browser you end up using that looks to block ccertain elements of web pages. I'd recommend disabling each one in turn to find out which one it is messing up connect modern and then tweaking the settings to allow connect modern to work but still provide it's features that you want on other sites.

    Hope that helps :)

Thanks. But with 50+ add-on's in Firefox and maybe 15 in Chrome, it could be any one of these or some combination of one or more. And it would take a long time to isolate. I thinkit will wind up being easier to just stop using Garmin Connect.

Really though, THEY Are changing the UI, so it is incumbent on them to make sure it works in all user environments.

But even worse now, since I can't see any controls on the new page, I can't switch back to the old UI, so am stuck in this useless "modern" UI. Sheese.

I was able to see the controls using an old IE8 browser instance and was able to switch back to the old UI. But the switch didn't even work well because when I switched back to the old UI, I did not get any confirm msg and the UI view in IE8 did not change. I had to logout and then try FF, where I saw that yes, the UI did revert back to the old view.

Garmin needs to do a LOT more work on this "modern" UI before foisting it on the general user base.

That's really unrealistic. I've never had any issues with any Garmin application, including Garmin Modern, except once when Express deleted voices on one of my nuvis, easily sorted by reinstalling from my backup. How can you expect any company to test every piece of software against every possible combination of PC configuration. As you say you've got 50 add-ons in one of your browsers.
