Segment feature on Garmin Connect?

For the last few days I have been getting a message on connect saying the segment feature is unavailable due to popularity until capacity can be increased. Understandable issues occur, but how long will it take to resolve, this is a great feature and it is disappointing to lose for an extended period of time, sure you can upload to strava but have been getting into this garmin feature with friends recently.

It would be great if someone put a timeframe on, just buy some cloud CPU and space, how hard can it be!

Dear Garmin, You've lost some of my segments, you've lost control of the leaderboards, you appear to have lost complete management of the segment function. If you can't deliver it please just hold your hands up and remove it, it is becoming very annoying, Strava may be gaining a lot of users.

Add earlier rides to a segment

I did register my first two segments on July 16th and did the same ride on July 18th. At July 19th or 20th the two segments showed up in GC. Now how can I add the ride at July 18th and earlier ride's at the same route to this segments?

    Anybody, any idea?

Garmin connect team can you help ?

Evening Garmin - I have just purchased one of your very nice expensive Edge 1000 models. Equipped with my shiny new device and a great deal of enthusiasm I set out to create my 10mile TT as a segment and smash it round the lake for 25 minutes (...or maybe 28 based on current form). an hour later I have given up trying to create a segment (but of course have done it in 5 minutes on Strava!) Any chance of:

    a) a fix - the feature looks great and I'd love to use it
    b) a proportion of my money back on account that some of the key features don't work
    c) a lasting and no doubt lucrative partnering with Strava who seem to have nailed this whole segment business

I am not really expecting a reply but I feel better now...although cider has now replace the TT so it may be 29 minutes now.
  • a - dont hold your breath.
b - never going to happen
    c - see b :)

It would be really nice if there was some actual feedback from Garmin and giving us a time frame of when the problem will be fixed.

Garmin really should just stop wasting our time trying (and failing) to re-invent the wheel and just start working with Strava.

(and it does seem it's Garmin who are the unwilling party)
