Workouts Scheduled on Calendar stay there after being completed?

I've put my marathon training plan into the calendar on Garmin Connect and then I transferred the workouts to my Forerunner 620.
Is it normal that, once you run the workout, it still stays on the calendar in Connect? In other words, the activity shows up on the Connect calendar after I complete a workout and it is synced, but the scheduled workout still stays there as well, even though there is a check next to the workout on the 620.
  • Yes the workouts stay in Connect
  • I would hope that, since the 620 can only hold 30 workouts, connect would be more efficient, moving workouts in and out when it is synced. I think Garmin should be pouring more resources into making their products work seamlessly.
  • Your original post indicated that you were concerned about the workouts being in Garmin Connect after you've completed them. Your second post indicates that your are concerned about the number of workouts that the 620 can hold. I'm not really sure what your concern is.

I don't think you should worry about storage space used by Garmin Connect. If the folks at Garmin determine that it is a problem, they'll address it. If you don't like old workouts appearing in your calendar, then delete them after you've completed them. If you are concerned about the workouts uploaded to your watch, I believe that the software (Garmin Express) will only upload workouts to your watch for the next 30 days. I'm not sure what algorithm is used to decide if a workout can be deleted, or when part of the schedule can be deleted, but I'd guess that the code is in there.

That said, the size of each workout's data is pretty minimal (140-400B in my case), and the workout schedule is just a bunch of references to workouts (600B). As of my last backup before switching to Garmin Express, I had 76 unique workout files (20.4KB) and a workout schedule that referenced all of those workouts at least once (479B). So the total size was about 20.9KB. Compared to the activity data files (2-380KB each), the workout schedule doesn't take up much space on your device at all.
