Segments never update

I have tried running a few segments I've set up and others have set up. The times never update to the segments page. My rank just stays the same as the first time it was run. It is the same segments in the correct direction. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution?

Garmin needs more people. There must be an actual person (yes, singular) looking through every ride and manually creating a Leaderboard.

Oh, wait... Strava (yes, Garmin... your supposed competitor) has INSTANT updates to Leaderboards.

Garmin it's OK to let Strava do its thing. If you work together, then you can just PULL segments from Strava and push back.

Hear my words.... STRAVA is building its own device(s) or partnering! No reason not to do it. Look Pioneer, they now have a Power Meter and Computer (really an audio company). So Strava can just license one, sell it. It would sell like mad...

Not sure what software they have/use.

Built a segment on Friday. http://connect.garmin.com/modern/segment/C7542358DB654220AE2732E3D6D1ABB1
    Rode it on Friday.
The Leaderboard is from last Monday's ride.
    Rode again today.

    No change... not even Friday.

Side topic: I now have a Garmin 1000. It is suppose to show as you enter a segment. The segment shows on the device. Rode a course that goes through the segment. NOTHING! No prompts. The YouTube video makes it looks SO cool. Nope... at least not with the current firmware (2.3). Sad.

After playing around with Garmin's segment feature I am left wondering why Garmin have gone down this path. It appears to be inferior to Strava's in nearly every aspect - from creating segments, viewing segments and editing segments through to the update speed, Strava is way ahead. Which begs the question, if you have Strava to copy from as the benchmark, how could you do it so badly? Creating segments in particular has nowhere near the flexibility and accuracy of Strava. Leaderboards taking days to update will be the death of it though.

I've had several Garmin Edge units since the 305 in 2006. I've used/displayed the data on more software and web based applications than I care to remember. Now Strava is probably my tool of choice as an overall training diary and performance monitoring. This won't stop me buying another Garmin device. I'm not sure if Garmin needs to beat Strava on the data and social media front in order to maintain their device market share. Garmin definitely needs to work more closely with all app and exercise social media platforms though.

Strava has the enormous first to market momentum behind it. People won't change unless there is a compelling reason to do so and Garmin segments present no compelling reasons at all. IMO Garmin should give up on this head to head fight and either acquire Strava or partner stronger with Strava. I am not sure if Garmin Connect is going to sell many more GPS units but partnering with Strava sure would. The alternative is Strava producing/licensing a GPS unit that has "live" Strava integration and this would put a massive hole in Garmin's market in cycling.

I've just about given up on the segment thing. Same issue - multiple rides/runs across segments I have created and nothing updated. Strava here I come...
