Well I switched to Modern + Express a couple of days ago, and thought I'd got away with it - upload went ok and I could see all my previous activities using the new UI.
But no.
Got back from this morning's run, connected my 305 and started up Express to upload. Express shows my device as Forerunner305, but the 'Sync Now' button is inactive/unclickable. I've tried cleaning the contacts on my watch/adapter which always worked eventually using the old Connect/upload, and pressed the Express refresh button, but it's not letting me sync.
Ok - I'll try going back to Classic, and re-install Communicator. But Connect just hangs trying to display my last activity (the URL it's trying to access is http://connect.garmin.com/dashboard?cid=2444534 ) - some of the page is there, but where the map would be displayed it just shows 'Loading...', and none of the links/buttons (eg. Upload) are active.
Try something else - enter an invalid URL ( http://connect.garmin.com/dashboare ) so that Connect displays 'page not found'. But it's still in Classic mode, and the Upload button is now active. So I press it - and it just displays a grey area where it would normally show my watch or (in my case) the SD card drive when nothing is connected. It says 'waiting for connect.garmin.com' at the bottom of the browser window. (I'm trying this initially without connecting the watch, to rule out some sort of watch problem.)
Very frustrating :(
