Privacy Setting to Prevent Bike Theft

It would be very helpful if Garmin Connect could allow us to set up a privacy zone around our home so we can make our rides public and participate in segments.
Without such a feature we cannot make our rides public without making the location of our home public. Then, it is just too easy for people to use Garmin Connect as a go-to place to find out where expensive bikes are. If someone were to find out that their home was broken into because its location is posted for everyone to see, that would seriously hurt Garmin Connect's chances of succeeding.

Also yes please from me. It is really annoying to be told your ride would rank you second or third, or even first, if your activity was available to everyone. Would love to, but the ride started at the exit to my bike storage cabin, and there is no way that is being put out there for all to see. ;)

A very useful feature to have. There is a site called runningfreeonline.com that had this. Used to use it but it got a bit behind the drag curve so haven't been there for a while. You can set privacy locations when you have an account.

While yes, it is of course possible to start and stop at a distance from home, but that is not the point. That would mean that every activity would be inaccurate and incomplete.

You'd only need to do it for a few hundred metres, could use that simply as a warm up before you start the ride 'proper'.

Strava already has the option to set a Privacy Zone, come on Garmin.

@sussamb yes you could do as you suggest but that's really missing the point and a workaround for a feature that alot of people want and that is available in a number of other competitor applications. As Garmin add and try and promote the social app side of this type of software then these features need to be standard and people's privacy and safety should be at the forefront of their thinking when producing new designs.
