Edge 500 Upload (Sync) Problem

Just new to cycling the last couple of months. Bought a Garmin Edge 500 and have been using since day 1 (April of this year). I went through the Garmin Connect problems of a couple weeks ago where activities were not showing up in connections or totals.

Yesterday I did my first 40 Km ride. Came home excited, connected my Garmin Edge 500 to my Mac and sync'd my Edge to Garmin Connect. Received the message sync completed. At that point my activity was deleted from my Edge 500 as that was my current setting (which I will now change). When I went to review my ride on Connect, it was not there. So VERY FRUSTRATING.

I honestly have to say I am getting quite disillusioned with Garmin and it's failing software.
