I gave it a try.
Good approach to use users as testers. You are welcome.

Can I switch back to old connect now?
Thanks.

ok there was a link - not very visible - to switch back "temporarily".

Let's make "temporarily" as long as possible.
  • If you now create a desktop shortcut to the Classic Connect you can open Classic Connect everytime by clicking that desktop shortcut.

I don't like it too. I am really conservative guy and I don't like unnecessary changes. I see no benefit in "Modern" look. Please, let the "classic" look as a permanent alternative to "modern".

Agreed. Some of the features like 'Segments' are nice and welcome concepts even if they are totally unoriginal. But the interface is clumsy, slow, and feels a little childish. Please retain the classic until this Modern thing is tidied up and optimized.
  • Not digging this new modern look nor the features. I imagine they are working on page load times and the responsiveness of the widgets themselves but it seems the way they have set up the workflow/page/widget flow is just going to be more of a nuisance than enhancement over the previous design. The product team needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. I think they have missed the mark for form over function which is essential to web design.
  • Strange isn't it, others are saying how much they like the new modern connect
  • I'm sure there are some who like the new version. Just not myself and I felt enough to make a statement about it. I've tried to use it for the last few weeks but honestly, I will abandon Garmin Connect and use Strava and other sources for data consumption and social networking among peers. It's unfortunate because I do own quite a few Garmin products (Vivofit, Edge, Montana, Fenix and Virb Elite). Thank goodness there are other alternatives. ;-)

    Garmin Connect Modern

Just given this a go and not impressed. It's very clunky and doesn't look particularly good. The most annoying thing is that i had to download and reinstall garmin express before i would recognise the device that i had plugged in. I actually switched to the classic view to upload my workout as normal because i couldn't do it on modern. Even now it is telling me to go to garmin express to link my device but it is already linked. Please give users the choice over what to use and don't make classic a 'temporary' option only.

    Not impressed....

and another issue that i've just found out - the elevation is all wrong on modern when you look at the player. The same happens in classic view but is fixed by retyping the pages address, replacing jsPlayer with 'player'. This fix doesn't work with modern so back to square one. My advice to all is to stick with classic

I looked at the thumbnail of what the modern view should look like, then when I clicked on the actual button to switch to modern view it didn't look anything like the thumbnail. It is just a bunch of tiled apps that I don't use. I prefer the compact Classic view with its tabs and simple b&w text. Change often happens for change sake and to keep the programmers busy, but it isn't always good.
