Problems loading data from 310XT

I am having endless problems loading data from my 310XT.

The ANT agent seems do only do half the job - I get the 'transferring data' message, but the transfer ends with 'transfer to Garmin Connect has failed'.

I could cope with this if a manual upload was possible, but when I go the root folder on my PC, the .fit files for my recent activities are not there. The most recent set of files in this folder is from 12th April, which I assume is when device/Garmin developed whatever problem it has.

I've found a lot of advice if one of the two things above is not working - but where ANT agent doesn't work, I can't upload manually, and when I connect with USB the device is not recognised, is there anything I can do to retrieve my files, which agonisingly, I can view in my 'History' on the device itself?

I'd rather not hard reset, as I have a Half Ironman on the device that I want to load.
  • You can't connect a 310XT to a computer via a USB cable. That cable is only for charging. The only way to get data off of the 310XT is via the ANT+ dongle and the appropriate software configured and working.

It sounds like you've got the ANT Agent software installed and working correctly. I'd guess that you have a corrupt .fit file that cannot be uploaded to Garmin Connect. The fit files shouldn't be in the root folder on your PC, they should be in something like C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Garmin if I remember correctly. Provided that you haven't installed Garmin Express, you should be able to find the files that were downloaded from your device in subdirectories of folder. If you have no recent files in there, then either you've installed Garmin Express and it is causing problems, or you have a corrupt file on your device that needs to be deleted.
