New edge 5110 question

Hi there
I picked up my new edge 5110 today which includes the hrm. I'm just wondering how do I set the edge up so I can see my heart rate in real time while I cycle?
I've set up a profile called "outdoor" and I've chosen the activity profile screen I would like to see. I've enabled it but when I start to ride it goes back to the default screen.
Any ideas would be great.

I'm assuming you mean you have a new Garmin 510. The manual should cover this pretty well.

you'll need to read about the training pages and how to configure them. If you purchased the HRM separately, you'll have to read the section on pairing a HRM.
