Newbie - Activity to Course changes the total KMs

Hi team,
My first post. Just got the Fenix 2, and still learning the watch and also trying to understand the connect website.

I do one specific hike quite often (Grouse Grind) and I want to save that course so I can select it in the course field of the activity, which probably then will let me compare my activities..

The challenge I'm running into is, the activity shows that my hike was 3.08 KMs, but when I save it as a course, it changes it to 2.08KM..

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I believe that the problem is that the conversion process reduces the number of points in the course, which can have a significant impact on the accuracy of the measured distance for courses with many turns. The only fix that I know of is to add points back to the course after the conversion process.
