Source of elevation data when Exporting

I have an Edge 510 which has the internal barometric altimeter. It is unclear if the barometric data is imported (using Garmin Express) or just the GPS elevation is saved. For Export, however, it appears the barometric data is not exported.

The Garmin Connect page allows switching between the Elevation Correction enabled/disabled; it is unclear if this switch only applies to the original imported data. Changing the setting changes nothing on the graphs nor the elevation gain/loss summary.

I exported the activity (GPX format) with this Elevation Correction switch in both settings; however, the resulting data are identical, and appear to be based on the GPS elevation. I also checked against a TCX export, again, all the data are the same no matter what the Elevation Correction switch setting is.

Since GPS elevation data changes at slow speeds result in enormously high/low grade calculations, is is possible to select what the data source of elevation is prior to the export? Is this barometric data only available in the FIT file?
