Forerunner 10 Not recognised when trying to upload - suggests to Format Disk

My Forerunner has stopped being recognised when I try to upload to Garmin Connect, it shows as Memory Card (D:\\) instead of Forerunner 10 and eventually times out saying i need to format the disk which I dont want to do in case it wipes all the software from the watch aswell.

I am having same problem. I have not remedied it yet, and even the Garmin Support website -- with what may be helpful FAQs -- is down.
  • I am also having the same problem. Sure hope there is an easy solution. I really don\t want to format the disk either

Hey guys. I had the same problem and emailed the Garmin support team. They told me to follow this link and run a disk check on my watch. Turns out I will have to get it repaired. But maybe it can help some of yall.

  • I had the same problems and was also hesitant to reformat E:/. I have a Forerunner 10. I will try the link. I had to order a new wristband, but I'm hoping the actual watch does not need repair. I am wondering if it's not the watch but the special garmin cradle and USB cable. I only say that because for a time it would have trouble recognizing the watch, but when I jiggled the cable it would register. So, just breaking down all the fault possibilities, it may be worth trying a cable that you know works with someone else's watch before mailing it in and having to find a way to run or cycle with the mobile app running (in my case) on your phone. : )

  • It worked! I held the backlight button (upper right) for 5 seconds (the manual says up to 15) and then the watch reset when it shutdown. I pushed it again quickly to turn the watch back on. I plugged the USB cable into the computer and then connected my watch to the cable. So, it was not the cable. I was able to upload my runs!
