New Garmin Connect

How do I switch to the new Garmin connect interface? There is no option at the top by my name yet on my sons account there was an option by his name at the top right indicating "switch to new" or something like that.
  • It sounds like the new Garmin Connect is still being rolled out. It sounds like your son's account was enabled in one of the earlier batches, and your account has yet to be enabled. Just be patient- you aren't missing anything.

Try going to http://connect.garmin.com/modern/ (That's the URL I have when I switch over). And then look for the human silhouette on the left side - that will get you back to the old interface.
I don't dislike the new one, but it's not finished, and there are things I'm just used to finding quickly with the old one. So I keep going back.
  • If you haven't been migrated to the new version looks like you cannot force yourself there.

I get this if I try the link above. (Still on the old version as well)

    Page Not Found

We're sorry. The page you're looking for no longer exists.
  • Consider yourself lucky, because otherwise you'll try to use it and find yourself frustrated by the new version. It's as if it's still in beta and they're using some of us as the guinea pigs to find out everything that's broken. Also, if you aren't using Garmin Express, it may be even worse. But since Garmin Express isn't working smoothly for some of us, that would just be the hair-pulling frosting on your frustration cake.

I'm back with the old UI, using ANT agent w/Communicator and everything works.
  • The new version is hideous! Text jumps around and changes size when you try to edit an activity, you can't see the number of strokes on the swim graph as they've made the height too small, also, I've got a 910XT and apparently the new communicator software doesn't work with it.

I'll be clinging onto the old version for as long as possible! Then will probably switch to Sporttracks. I'm a triathlete and being able to compare my data and training sessions quiclkly and easily is important to me, rather than the "experience" of a garmin programmer's toddler playing around with the stylesheets!
  • Thanks for all the responses guys I guess I will just be happy and continue with the old one.
  • I have to agree, the new site is not ready for prime time. It baffles my mind that even though I have large monitors, the map-based views have limited vertical dimensions, wasting a great deal of my monitor and forcing me to zoom too far out or drag the map far more than would be necessary to view my route.

Not all the errors are new. E.g., when I use “Save as Course” the total distance displayed is significantly less than that displayed elsewhere. E.g., 30.01 vs. 29.57 mi. Such discrepancies are always present.
  • Does anyone know how to disable the new version? I regret having clicked on 'switch to modern' since I cannot see anything now. Sometimes I get back to a working view, but most of the time it has the background of the modern view and absolutely none of my widgets or information. Just the title bar.
  • Click on your profile icon (bottom of the 4 on the left side of the page), click on switch to classic temporarily.
  • Does anyone know how to disable the new version?…

You can (for now) recover the classic view by visiting http://connect.garmin.com/dashboard
