How do I manually enter body fat?

I found how to enter my weight manually with the health reports. But, the body fat (and many other measurement indices) are grayed out. Any suggestions?
  • You can't. The only thing you can do is generate a .fit file with the information in it, then import that file to Garmin Connect.

Well, that stinks! I'm certainly not buying a monitor when I can get it done for free at the gym.

Thank you for the quick response, though.

When will this be added? I can record body weight but can't record body fat %? Seems like this would be a no-brainer.

With they'd just allow you to do this manually. Can't effort to pay over £100 for new scales when I have perfectly good blu tooth body analysis scales! Would just be useful to be able to have all data together rather than separate apps!

  • Yes. But:
    1. Withings/Nokia healtmate was far superior than every frontend from Garmin if you look at scales.

    2. Those scales are far more reliable regarding the connectivity.

I sold my withings when the Index came and im still not happy.

there are no proper trends, there are no averages or area in wich your weight moves, you can't enter advanced metrics into connect and it overwrites multiple measurements always with the last one.

Also, the Index doesnt show you the changes from your last to your actual weight in.

Even if its rude to Garmin to say it here:
Its better to use another manufacturer and app for scale than Garmin. Sync the weight only into Connect so it gets transferred to watches and bike computers and you have the best solution.

  • Also, the Index doesnt show you the changes from your last to your actual weight in.

Not completely true - on the daily summary on the web (https://connect.garmin.com/modern/daily-summary) as well as on the mobile you will see the delta from your latest weight measurement vs. the previous one. But it's only the weight, not the other measures.

  • Yes, its online. But I wrote about the device itself.
It would be that easy to show it on that big display, an arrow indicating wich direction your weight moves with the numbers next to it.
