FR610 - Device Not Found error with Garmin Connect

I recently purchased the FR610. I have loaded the Garmin Express, which seems to work fine with the ANT USB. My issue is with Garmin Connect. I created a workout and tried to send it to my watch but when clicking on Send to Device button, my device is not able to be found. The watch is not in sleep mode during the sync. I have tried several different ways to send data to watch and each time the device is not able to be found.

Please advise.
  • Do you have access to the 'modern' Garmin Connect, or are you stuck on 'classic'?

Open Garmin Express. Click the gear icon in the too right corner of the title bar. Look to the bottom of the Garmin Express window. What version of Garmin Express do you have? If you have any version prior to 3.2.4.0, I highly suggest you click the link to check for updates. Once you have a recent version, does it work?

Do you have the ANT Agent or Communicator Plugin installed? If you want to use Express, you should uninstall them both, and move their files somewhere safe.

The same issue. I have a Fenix 2. It works fine and syncs using Garmin Express software. However, when I try to send some workout to the device using "The Awesome Brand New Modern Garmin Connect™ Website", it tells me "No compatible devices found". Really? How come Garmin Fenix 2 is not compatible? When I go back to the old version, everything just works fine.

I hope the Garmin won't disable the old version unless they fix all the issues with the new one. I don't really like being a lab rat for testing, especially using one of the premium and most expensive devices in the product line.

P.S. The same problem with sending heart rate training zones to Garmin Fenix 2. "No compatible devices found".
P.P.S. Mac OS X 10.9.2, Chrome 35.0 and Safari 7.0.3, both Garmin Express and Fenix 2 are updated to the latest version.
  • I have Forerunner 10, same problem. I reinstalled Express a few times, re-booted my MAC, and what else. This is really disappointing from Garmin!!

I have a MAC, the version of Garmin Express was downloaded directly from the garminexpress website 2 days ago, so I am sure it is the latest version. I cannot find the version number the way you suggested, there is no gear icon on my version of Garmin Express. I'm not sure what the ANT Agent is, it does not seem available to me. I have the Communicator Plugin installed into Safari, but it doesn't seem to work, I believe it is from this plugin that my device cannot be found.
  • Just because you downloaded it recently doesn't mean that it is the most recent version. There have been several times where the version available for download is not the same as the version that is available via the update mechanism.

As for updating the software on a Mac, I don't have a Mac to play with so I don't know exactly what you need to do to update the software. I'm assuming that if you jump up to the menus you'll find something useful. You'll just have to look around.

Problem solved. After 2:30 on the phone with Garmin Support, I was instructed to download the ANT Agent. It all works now. They removed this option from their website due to the notion that the Garmin Express was working properly.
