What's the deal with segments?

My activities are set to "Everyone"
I already "opted in" leader boards.

I have three activities that cross by the segment I created (using one of them) and none of them show on it. I even created and deleted the segment three times. When I open each of activities I get "this activity doesn't cross any segment".
What am I missing?

Nothing. Segments on GC are a pile of crap at the moment. I've had the same issue myself. Sometimes it takes days for a segment to get recognised compared to instantly on Strava. Guess which one I'm using at the moment.

It's shocking that Segments were even released to the public. I've had a segment created for several days and the leaderboard is still being created. It says at the top of the screen that this segment was crossed by 3 people on 3 activities, including myself, but no leaderboard yet!

On that, I notice that some folks have entries in leaderboards dating back to 2013, but all of my efforts seem to be from April 2014 onwards! Some of my best times were in 2013.

Got the same problem, segments not being recognised when I upload to Connect. I upgraded to Edge 1000 for this facility, works on the device when on a ride but then not updated on site or leaderboard. On my activities it simply tells me I have not crossed a segment, even though I have and it has been recorded on the device. Come on Garmin, you ar the market leader and are trying to tak on Strava and failing, badly, expect more!!!!

I wonder if Strava was up for sale? It might have been a better approach for Garmin... And whilst they're at it, look at one of the route creation sites as well, they seem to be able to do a better job at recognising which way to go around a roundabout and which side of the road different folks drive on!

Interesting. Has Garmin acknowledged this problem? Are they working on it or something?

I have put a request into their support. They have been poor at dealing with a range of issues, really need to get their finger out

Segments don't work. Garmin is really pushing the boat out on pi**ing off their customers.

Anyone know if you can remove people from a segment? Some tit has left his GPS on in his car or motorbike and has an average of 40mph up a hill!

You mean like you can do on Strava? It's becoming apparent that we, as consumers, are far more ready for segments on Garmin than Garmin are ready to deliver them!
