Why no sub-forum for other Garmin lines?

Hi, UK Zumo 660 owner checking in...

Still using my zumo inthe car as i keep getting odd ball routes for navigation, being taken through cities here in uk instead of via motorways. Why is there no minor roads avoidance that my Garmin quest had many, many years ago?

Anyways, zumo was bought to use on my motorcycle so am surprised there are no motorcycling subforums.

Still trying to figure how how to show the routing option on the map as the owners manuls shows, cant find an option to do this anywhere, any help appreciated.

Cheers, Frank

    Dezl can't navigate trucking

I'm with you BigFoot. Also wonder why routing issues are worsened by updates instead of improved. Best example so far is weight limits on Interstate 80 across Nebraska. For the longest time I was reporting the 50 + mile stretch of I80 with a weight limit of 10 tons (Interstates don't allow trucks?!?) to Garmin by phone and any way I could figure out, with the data given at every rural Nebraska on ramp limiting axles to 10 tons, tandem axle sets to 17 tons and combination vehicles (semi-tractor/trailers) to 40 tons. Now with my profile set to 39 tons and the latest map updates, Dezl has me driving almost to Canada to avoid Interstate 80 from Wyoming to Iowa. With this kind of customer service I wonder that Garmin still has operations in any area.

Thanks SUSSAMB! Good to hear some validation. I suspect that Garmin is going through an identity crisis of sorts; smartphones and tablets have undoubtably gobbled up some of their business. Other companies are coming out with fitness trackers, data loggers, Bluetooth GPS units, watches, etc. Lots of competition out there for the consumer's wallet. All of which means they need to get leaner, stronger, and better. Improving customer service, outreach, and listening to users here would be a great step in that direction. Longtime Garmin owners (including myself) would certainly appreciate it! :D

GPS technology is basically mature. Companies like Garmin have two choices to stay in a leadership position - (1) new markets for the technology (on which they are clearly focusing), (2) incremental feature improvement, top quality, and superior customer service in the conventional applications. They are not mutually exclusive - you can do both if you want - but if Garmin continues to produce poor quality products (read all the complaints on other forums) and ignores the pleas of the users for help, they will drive customers to other companies or other platforms. TomTom dropped out of the motorcycle market a couple years ago and left Garmin essentially standing alone, but they must have sensed the gap and recently got back in.

    Wake up, Garmin!

Can we PLEASE have a motorcycling sub-forum as it is a dedicated subject with lots of issues that I believe are not comparable to others.
  • Anyone wanting to add to the voices about other forums should pm TRI.JANDS who is the Admin for these forums, the ball is in his court at the moment :)

If the mods were able to we've have created some a while ago but there are issues behind the scenes that mean they cannot simply be added.
