Why aren't the total active calories the same among the different reports?

When I add up the active calories from the various activities it is sometimes equals the report Active Calories, but the total in Active Calories is not the same in the Total Calories. Why?
  • Isn't Total Calories = Active Calories + Inactive Calories? I'm assuming that Active Calories are the calories burned when doing activities (swim, bike, run, hike, weights, ...) and Inactive Calories are the ones that are burned because your body needs to keep your heart beating, lungs breathing, body warm, and your brain thinking.
