My Garmin does not register a 5K

I ran 3.30 miles this morning and it did not register on my dashboard as a 5k. I have run a few 5Ks and none of them have registered. Any help would be appreciated.
  • If you mean it wasn't identified as a personal record then I believe it needs to be much closer to 5Km than that. Try watching the distance and stopping at exactly or say 5.01Km and see if that works. I'm not sure what the margins are around the personal record distances are but I know they are quite tight
  • You can still manually mark this as a PR in the activities page

They must be super tight. I ran 3.21 miles and still did not have it record a 5Kpr. I wish that it would be a little more forgiving, such as, if I run my fastest mile within a 3 mile run to just let it record that fastest mile. Not sure I will ever run 1 mile exactly an not do more than 2. Thank you for the reply.

Thank you for the post. I will have to look into manually adding PRs.
  • Manual is the way to go - the trouble with PR's in general based upon the GPS is the accuracy and validity. When I run a 10K certified and measured race my watch will often record over distance. The reason is probably that I have actually run over 10K as I won't have followed the exact line that the course measurer did so despite the fact that my watch says 10.2K I will record the race as 10K length and base my PR on that. I feel if I don't do that I'll be deluding myself as I'm trying to measure myself and my improvement against other runners. Also if you pick a fast mile out of a 3 mile run that may be the 1 mile of that run that is all downhill and so won't translate into a realistic PR if you tried to run that same time on a flat measured mile.
