Course creation on GC/total vertical gain

Total vertical gain on a route is a necessary planning and evaluation data item. GC shows the elevation profile of a route but the route summary box shows zero vertical gain or loss. Would Garmin please add this feature ASAP - you have the raw data so I guess all that is needed is a little more programming.
