Modern is Clunky and Not Intuitive

The modern version of Garmin Connect is clunky, unresponsive much of the time and not at all intuitive (when compared to the old version). It's terrible.

    I cannot disagree.
  • Somehow they managed to take a step back...typical Garmin, get it out the door before it's ready and let the users be figure out the bugs. The sad part is there's almost nothing that users have been asking for for years on this forum. Add to that that they actually removed reporting features...

I just uploaded a swim to Connect. NO SPLITS for lengths in Modern version? Bad bad bad bad.

I had to switch back to classic, it has everything you need laid out in a clean and obvious way. The modern one wastes too much space and makes you work to get to your data.
If the modern view becomes compulsory, I will have to look for another solution.

Agreed. It is really not intuitive at all. Somebody will lose their job over this.
  • I resisted going to the modern version of Garmin Connect until just last week. However I don't see that it's much different that the old. Of course everything is in panels to give you the wonderful feel you get from Windows 8. <Grin> yes I gagged when I said that.

But still people.... If a old man like me can find my way around it, then certainly with a little effort on your part you can learn it too. I'm sure you had to look and investigate things in the old Garmin Connect to learn it. Granted you were younger and maybe a little more agreeable to learning then.

Do I like it? No..... I see no use for "panels" I prefer pages. But you know what.... when you go to a panel it expands to a page... hmmm.

Well I found it intuitive enough, just click around and everything is pretty obvious. If you're still struggling this may help

  • Sure, you can load the Classic still ... click on the 'head' icon on the left and select Switch to Classic temporarily. Note Garmin have suggested that in due course Classic will be withdrawn.

  • If you want to see your data without going onto the web then Garmin Training Centre may work for you depending on which device you have. You can still download it but it is unsupported. It also allows you to create some workouts with parameters not available in connect. I keep all my training history on connect, Training Centre and Strava just so there's minimal risk of losing it all
