How Are Segments Detected?

I have created a segment and despite creating it using a ride I did it still doesn't recognise that I have ridden through that segment. The segment was created from a previous activity a couple of days ago and I have ridden through it over 20 times in the past year.

I was wondering whether this is just a bug on Garmin's side or the segment is still scanning to detect who has ridden through it? Is there anyone that can give me an insight into how segment leaderboards are created?

I have the same problem. Segments I created myself that (obviously) I covered, show up with other people's results over that segment but not mine.

Same problem. Sometimes it recognizes and sometimes it doesnt

Likewise... there are certain courses that I do repeatedly, all with segments, and there are certain sessions where Garmin indicates that I crossed no Segments. Not all the time and seemingly no pattern.

Same issue here! One of my segments took nearly a month to include me even thought it populated with other people's data immediately.

I've noticed that over the last 2-3 days my standard segments are not being detected. Even if a create a new segment based on one of my own activites, GC doesn't see I did that segment!
